OVERVIEW The company started life in 1985 as Double J (Midlands) Ltd., which was set up to specialise in the supply of parts to the wheelchair and bicycle industries, by its present Managing Director, Philip Taylor and his brother, whose background had been in bicycle manufacturing. In May 2008, Schwalbe UK Ltd moved into a purpose-built, ultra-modern facility in Telford. Its storage capacity is one third larger than its previous warehouse and it has sufficient land on site to be expanded by another 50 percent as required. It can currently store up to 500,000 tyres and 1.4 million tubes. THE BRAND SCHWALBE brand bicycle tyres can be found from the USA to Australia and Japan to South Africa. In Europe we are the market leaders. We believe there are two reasons for this success: Firstly – We are tyre fanatics, absolutely specialising in bicycles and for some years also in wheelchairs. Secondly – Our tyres can’t be found everywhere, but exclusively in the specialised trade because to our mind, qualified advice and good service are a must. And we know- Only the specialised trade can ensure both.
The original. The archetypal high quality touring tyre. Now completely revised: GreenGuard. The highly elastic, India rubber layer is 3mm thick. Other manufacturers call such a tyre “Plus”. However, Green is not just the colour, but also the philosophy: One third of the GreenGuard is made up of recycled latex products.
“Anti-Aging”. The completely new sidewall construction can withstand for much longer the typical ing resulting from overloading due to insufficient inflation pressure. Also the new Endurance Compound substantially increases durability. E-Bike Ready. The new Marathon has been designed for use on all types of E-bikes. The following sizes bear the ECE75 mark, suitable for use on faster, up to 50 kph, E-bikes: 47-406, 47-559, 37-622, 40-622, 47-622.
